PRESS RELEASE
Barefoot® Cellars
Takes 17 Medals at The American Wine Society's Commercial Wine Competition
January 7, 2005 - Sonoma County, CA - Barefoot
Cellars capped off another record breaking year, receiving 17 medals
at the American Wine Society's Commercial Wine Competition, November
10-11 at State College Pennsylvania, including a gold medal for
its California Merlot.
Winemaker Jennifer Wall summarized 2004 as
"One giant step! Each year our quality is recognized with more
and more awards. We owe a lot to our customers and consumers who
play a big part in spreading the word about Barefoot. Our greatest
award is Barefoot's increasing acceptance by wine drinkers throughout
the country."
In 2004, Barefoot received over 350 awards
and citations for its Barefoot California, Barefoot Sonoma County
Reserve, Barefoot on the Beach, Barefoot Bubbly and J. Lynne wines.
Sales reached a record 600,000 cases, an increase of 60% compared
to 2003. In April, the Company's sales success earned it an Impact
"HOT BRAND" award from M. Shanken Communications, an honor
reserved for only the top growth brands in the US market.
"Perhaps our proudest achievement over
the past year has been the acceptance of our Barefoot Bubbly Chardonnay
Champagne", explained Jennifer. "This product was introduced
in 1998 and since then has become widely known for its outstanding
value. Sales almost doubled in 2004 and the Barefoot Bubbly Brut
was named the Best Champagne in the Americas under $10 at the 2004
VinoChallenge Wine Competition in Atlanta Georgia."
"We have so much to be proud of and we
want to share this with all those who have contributed to our success.
One way we are doing this is by attaching labels to our bottles
that show our various awards. We haven't lost touch with our roots.
Our commitment remains; the best wine at the best price," exclaims
Bonnie Harvey, Founder and Vice President.
As the Company steps into 2005, their focus
remains on exceeding wine drinkers expectations and using their
unique merchandising, marketing and information tools to deliver
superior service to customers.
