Barefoot Cellars began distributing their
wines in Louisiana through Gallo of Louisiana in July 2001. Barefoot
sales through Gallo Louisiana exceeded 7,000 cases in 2003, which
exceeded both company's goals. "Barefoot is independently owned,
but we are very fortunate to have Gallo of New Orleans as our Distributor,"
commented Michael C. Houlihan, Owner, Founder, President and CEO
of Barefoot Cellars. "They (Gallo) have made our award winning
wines widely available throughout greater New Orleans area."
Marvin Shanken, editor of the Wine Spectator
and Wine Impact Magazine, recently granted Houlihan the "Hot
Brand" award in Las Vegas, Nevada at a special ceremony during
the week of the Wine and Wholesalers of America (WSWA) convention.
The notoriety from this award, along with other awards from prestigious
events such as the NOWFE Fleur de Lis competition, have further
increased the Barefoot Cellars brand awareness and sales across
the country.
Barefoot Cellars has been producing
award winning California and Sonoma County wines and champagnes
since 1986. The Barefoot Cellars portfolio includes Barefoot on
the Beach wines, Barefoot Bubbly Chardonnay Champagnes, Barefoot
Reserve Sonoma County wines and the 'original' Barefoot Cellars
(California) wines. Except for the Barefoot Reserves, all of these
wines can be found in the Louisiana market for less than $10.
