Phil Aiello is one of our original Barefooters and logs some serious time making sure beaches around the world are Barefoot friendly. He chatted with us for a few minutes recently about his passion for cleaning beaches and giving back to his community. Have a question for Phil? Be sure to ask him in the comments!
Why did you decide to become a Barefooter?
I loved the idea of being part of an organization that worked with nonprofits in a very genuine way. I could feel the passion and vision Barefoot had for creating great quality wines and making their community better in the process. I knew there would be a lot of hard work to make Barefoot a big success, but I knew deep down in my heart that we would do it. I'm truly happy and proud that I decided to join Barefoot.
How many beaches do you think you've cleaned in your lifetime?
At least 70, including beaches across the ocean in the United Kingdom.
Why do you pour your sole into making our beaches Barefoot friendly?
Of course, the first reason is because it's good for the environment. I also think we create a domino effect when we clean these beaches. The people who clean the beaches, and the people who see us clean the beaches, think twice before they litter again for the rest of their lives. Barefoot Wine has been cleaning beaches for more than six years now! Just imagine how much trash we've kept out of our rivers, lakes and oceans. Picture this: you're barefoot on a beautiful beach with a bar stocked with Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.
Which bottle do you open and why?
I would definitely open our Zinfandel wine. Our Zinfandel is such a great bottle of wine and has been my favorite since day one.
What's your favorite way to get Barefoot and have a great time? I really love running the beach barefoot! I think my perfect day would be a barefoot run on the water, followed by a nice glass of Barefoot Zinfandel on a deck. I'd either barbeque or have a great Italian meal. Sounds great!
